Five Things That Made 2020 Great

What a long, strange year this has been! In January of 2020 we could never have imagined all the twists and turns thrown at us because of the COVID-19 virus. Take a minute to recount our five favorite memories from 2020: 1. The House Is Ready We began the year with great optimism! Our three-story, eight-bedroom house was built and paid for, and the task ahead of us was to interview foster care applicants to inhabit the home and begin caring for children in the foster care system. After several interviews we found an applicant that fit [...]

BBQ Fundraiser a Success!

2022-01-19T22:51:36+00:00

We're Working Hard to Meet Our Goal! The Farm Place is in planning stages for the next phase of The Farm, which includes a barn for farm animals, along with a board room and office space. The new building will reside on our ten-acre property adjacent to the home we built to provide space for a foster family. It will be available to children receiving services from DCS, court-ordered supervised visitation with family members, therapy sessions, and more. We believe providing this space alongside farm animals in a farm setting will provide a more safe, relaxed, and therapeutic environment. On [...]

A Foster Family For The Farm

2022-01-19T22:51:44+00:00

The Home We Built is Serving Its Purpose The house we built for The Farm Place has been leased by a licensed foster care family for several months now and we thought the community might like to know more about how the home is being used. Strict privacy laws prohibit us from sharing information about the foster care family or the children who live there. Ever since she was a young girl our foster parent had a strong desire to care for children. In the church where she grew up, she served with the kids’ ministries. “In the Bible, James [...]

Sleep in Heavenly Peace Donates Ten Beds From an article in the February 28, 2020 issue of the LaGrange News: Since October 2018, Sherilyn and Randy Lackey of LaGrange in addition to other volunteers have built and assembled 190 beds associated with Sleep in Heavenly Peace. The reason? Lackey says, “We don’t want any child sleeping in a bad situation. We fully believe that a bed is a basic need for the proper physical, emotional, and mental support that a child needs. When it was brought to our attention that the need for beds went far beyond our own neighborhoods, [...]
